Regular office hours will be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The public is invited to stop by anytime. The Workforce Center will offer general services, including job referral and placement for all job seekers. Additional services available will include work registration for unemployed workers who have filed for Unemployment Insurance, as well as opportunities that will benefit employers in the community. Additional services will be developed as program expansion continues. In addition, HHS is hiring a part-time Veterans Affairs Officer who will be co-located in the Workforce Center to assist veterans with employment, veterans benefits and other services. For employment assistance or information about the new services, call 303.464.5855. Mayor Karen Stuart was instrumental in securing a county-specific workforce center for Broomfield. "Part of our reason for becoming a county was to provide full access to quality services for Broomfield citizens. Our own workforce center is just one more piece of program development that builds on our commitment, when we became a county, to bring service delivery home to Broomfield," Stuart said. Stuart is Broomfield’s representative on the Colorado Rural Workforce Consortium Board of Directors. "We have worked very hard to ensure access to community-based workforce services for Broomfield citizens. Our ability to be a community-based workforce center is attributable to our membership in the Colorado Rural Workforce Consortium. The opening on April 1 will be the culmination of The City and County of Broomfield’s efforts," said Frank Schoengarth, Self-Sufficiency and Employment Services Manager, who will be in charge of the center for Broomfield. Health and Human Services staff was joined by staff members from the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment in February 2002. Together, they have been working on the implementation of a Broomfield County Workforce Center in a joint effort between the State and Broomfield that will continue until June 30, 2002. In April 2002, HHS staff will begin recruiting efforts to replace the State staff with City and County employees, effective July 1, 2002. Office space at #12 Garden Center, was renovated to accommodate Workforce Center needs, and includes phones, computers and workstations.
