Broomfield Mayor Pat Quinn addresses the more than 400 attendees at the 2009 Trail Adventure and Family Wellness event June 6.

John DiPalma, from Golden Bear Bikes, does a last minute tune-up for a trail bike rider at a booth at the event.

Joel Hollis leads those riding bikes in the Trail Adventure at the beginning of the six mile bike loop.

Mayor Quinn, left, and Councilmember Bette Erickson lead the trail walkers out from the underpass at Aspen Street along the 2.4 mile route. 

Part of the trail takes a few scenic curves as it passes through the Country Estates open space area.

Tim Kardatzke, assistant scout leader of Troop 337, who had six scouts positioned to assist walkers along the trail, gives directions with the mountain peaks behind him.

Following the walk, Mayor Quinn presents Sue Oakey with the grand prize of a night's stay and dining at the Renaissance Boulder Suites Hotel at Flatiron, from a random drawing of all participants. 

Five-year-old Alexandria Jefferson, has her first experience sitting in a fire engine with the help of North Metro firefighter / paramedic Chas Gross.

Other tables at the event had more animals represented, allowing young people to get up close to them, including this pelican. 

Cara Spengler, of the Broomfield Rotary Club, asks children to identify different traffic signs at their pedestrian safety demonstration.

Barbara Jennings and Sean McGaughey provide some musical  acoustical guitar entertainment during the family wellness event.
