The ninth annual Broomfield Trail Adventure kicked off Saturday with the 6-mile bike trail loop as a dog gets a free ride around the trail. 

Broomfield Mayor Pat Quinn welcomed participants and got things started at the Anthem Highlands Community Center in northwest Broomfield.
 

About 400 people attended the event with some people biking the 6 mile course, while others walked or ran  either a 1 or 2.5 mile course.

Among the many tables and booths set up at the event was the CSU Extension office, which promoted its Wildlife Masters, Master Gardeners and 4-H programs.

Paul Derda, from the Rotary Club of Broomfield, assists Mackenzie Wasserburger, 8, through the final leg of the Bike Rodeo. The rodeo was set up by the North Metro Fire Rescue District and the Broomfield Police Department.
