Mark your calendars for the second annual Habitat Garden Fair planned for Saturday, March 31, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Participants will learn how to create a backyard habitat for butterflies and other wildlife. Keynote
speaker is Broomfield resident and Master Gardener Ann Montague, who also is a staff member at the
Denver Botanic Gardens.
Other local experts and businesses will be on hand to talk with attendees and offer
presentations, demonstrations, and mini-workshops full of information about quality gardening practices that provide
beauty, as well as benefit local wildlife.
No registration is necessary, and the event is FREE! The Fair will be in the Lakeshore Room at the Broomfield
Community Center, 280 Lamar Street.

Broomfield Trail Adventure 2011
The 10th annual Broomfield Trail Adventure was held on Saturday morning, June 4, 2011, at the
Broomfield County Commons Open Space. Mild temperatures and no wind made it a perfect day for a trail
outing!
The 2010 Broomfield Trail Adventure took place on Saturday, June
5, 2010. The event was held in the Anthems Highland community in
north Broomfield and highlighted the area's trail system. Check out
the routes that were selected.
In September 2011, the Birds of Prey Foundation staff brought live raptors—a Bald Eagle, a Great
Horned Owl, a Swainson's Hawk, and a Turkey Vulture— and provided an informal educational program about these
fascinating creatures. Approximately 150 attended the event at the Broomfield Community Center on a beautiful autumn
afternoon.
Attendees had the opportunity to get close-up views of the birds. This free event was jointly sponsored by the City and County of
Broomfield and the Broomfield Open Space Foundation (BOSF).
Fishing Derby for Kids
The fishing derby took place in May 2011
on a picture-perfect weather day! The event—co-sponsored by the City and County of Broomfield, the Broomfield
Open Space Foundation, and Colorado Parks and Wildlife—drew some 100 anglers trying their luck at catching the
trout that were stocked in the Tom Frost Reservoir.
