Description:
- Perennial with large tap root. Reproduces by seed
only. Grows up to 5 feet tall, multi-stemmed.
- 4-12 inch leaves are mostly basal with curly or wavy
margins.
- Flowers May-June, green in color.
- Seed heads and stems and some leaves turn rust colored
with maturation of seeds.
- Individual seeds encased in a papery cover, that
encourage dispersal by wind.
Locations: ditches, pastures, cultivated fields, and
roadsides
