Pesticide Flag in Turf Area

Pestiside Application Warning Flag

Park Spraying Operations

Parks Division personnel and contract applicators place flags, pictured above, to notify the public that herbicides have been applied. The least hazardous chemicals available are used for broadleaf weed control in turf areas. These products include:  Round Up and 2-4 D (Dimenthylamine salt of 2, 4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid), herbicides commonly sold at local garden centers. The flags are placed approximately 50 feet apart in the area covered by the herbicide. Although there is no state law requiring public notification, manufacturers' instructions require that when using their product, the general public and pets should remain off the sprayed area until it is dry, which is usually under two hours. Flags are removed in a timely manner. If you have questions, please call 303.464.5626.
