If you are interested in applying for a Colorado Concealed Handgun permit with the City and County of Broomfield, please read the following instructions carefully. You may obtain a Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit Application by:
  • Downloading and printing out the Application and Information Packet.  If you are not a United States citizen, you must also complete a Supplemental Questionnaire Form.
  • Picking up an application at the Broomfield Police Department, 7 DesCombes Drive, at the Records Counter
  • Calling 720-887-2086 and requesting an application be sent to you
Applications may be dropped off at the Records Counter at the Broomfield Police Department, 7 DesCombes Drive.

Don't forget...
  • to leave the application unsigned -- you will need to sign it in front of a Police Department representative
  • to include a copy of any training certificate received for handgun courses attended
  • the check or money order for $100 made payable to the Broomfield Police Department for the processing fee
  • the money order only for $52.50 made payable to the Colorado Bureau of Investigations for the fingerprinting and background check
  • to have two sets of fingerprints taken by the Broomfield Police Department.  The Court Security Unit offers fingerprinting to Broomfield citizens Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. as well as on Tuesday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m.  There is no charge for this service.  To reach the Court Security Unit, please call 303-464-5799.
  • to include proof of residency (Colorado Driver’s License, Colorado ID Card, or Military ID Card and Duty Orders)

If you currently have a Colorado Concealed Handgun permit with the City and County of Broomfield and need to change your address information, or if your permit has been lost or stolen, please complete the Change of Address / Permit Lost or Destroyed Form and return it to the Broomfield Police Department.  Please leave the form unsigned as you will need to sign the form in front of a Police Department representative.

Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit (RENEWAL)

COLORADO CONCEALED HANDGUN PERMIT RENEWAL PROCESS – ONLY FOR PREVIOUSLY ISSUED PERMITS FROM THE CITY AND COUNTY OF BROOMFIELD

Colorado Concealed Handgun Permits issued by the City and County of Broomfield may be renewed within 120 days prior to the expiration of the permit.  You may obtain a renewal application by:
  • Downloading and printing out the Application and Affidavit of Qualification.
  • Picking up an application at the Broomfield Police Department, 7 DesCombes Drive, at the Records Counter
  • Calling 720-887-2086 and requesting an application be sent to you
Applications may be dropped off at the Records Counter at the Broomfield Police Department, 7 DesCombes Drive.

Process to follow to renew permit...
  • Complete the Application form.  Remember to check the renewal box and leave the application unsigned -- you will need to sign it in front of a Police Department representative.  Note:  Proof of handgun training is not required for renewal of a permit.
  • Complete the Affidavit of Qualification form and have your signature notarized on the form.
  • Have a personal check, cashier’s check, or money order for $50 made payable to the Broomfield Police Department for the processing fee.
  • Have a cashier’s check or money order only for $13 made payable to the Colorado Bureau of Investigations for the background check.
  • Include proof of current residency in Colorado (Colorado Driver’s License, Colorado ID Card, or Military ID Card and Duty Orders)

City and County of Broomfield - Retired Law Enforcement Officer Concealed Handgun Permit (Federal Permit)

If you are interested in applying for a Retired Law Enforcement Officer Concealed Handgun Permit with the City and County of Broomfield, please read the following instructions carefully.  Note:  Retired officers applying for a permit must reside or maintain a secondary residence within the City and County of Broomfield.  You may obtain a Retired Law Enforcement Officer Concealed handgun Permit by:

  • Downloading and printing out the application and information packet
  • Calling 720-887-2086 and requesting an application and information packet be sent to you
Please read the information packet thoroughly.  It provides all of the information you will need to complete your application.  Once the application is completed, call 720-887-2086 to schedule an appointment.

Don’t forget…
  • to leave the application unsigned – you will need to sign it in front of a Police Department representative
  • to include a check or money order for $100 made payable to the Broomfield Police Department for the processing fee
  • to include a money order or cashiers check for $13 made payable to the Colorado Bureau of Investigations (CBI) for the background check
  • to include a copy of the photographic identification issued by the agency from which you retired from service as a law
    enforcement officer
  • to include proof of residency (Colorado Driver’s License or Colorado ID Card)
