Cops in the Community

The Broomfield Police Department is committed to volunteerism and actively participates in improving the community and raising funds to benefit others.

The annual Red Robin Tip A Cop for Special Olympics was held on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at the Red Robin location at FlatIrons Crossing. During this fun event, officers don an apron and talk to customers while collecting donations for Special Olympics. This year's event raised over $2,600.

On May 29, 2008, 67 participants joined the Torch Run to raise funds for Special Olympics; and the group raised over $1,000.  Donations are accepted throughout the year and volunteers are always needed.  Visit the Special Olympics Colorado website for details.

Officers visited Mountain View Elementary School on September 11, 2008 to promote the READYColorado program. READYColorado teaches children and their families how to be ready for a variety of disasters.

Local partners that participated in the School Preparedness Party included Adams Five Star Schools, North Metro Fire Rescue, Broomfield Police Department, Broomfield Office of Emergency Management, and the Adams County Office of Emergency Management.  The school also hosted B. Ready, the official ambassador of READYColorado's Passport to Preparedness campaign running during September.

In December 2007, members of the Department and community, together with the Broomfield Rotary, participated in Santa Cops, a program designed to provide toys and food to Broomfield families in need.  In 2007, 21 families, including 58 children, received toys and boxes of food to help them through the holidays.

Broomfield's Honor Guard posted the colors at the Denver Grand Prix on August 13, 2006.

On a bi-monthly basis, citizens can visit local coffee shops and have Coffee With a Cop.  This program allows citizens to ask questions or just visit with local law enforcement officers.  Please see the 2009 and 2010 schedule for remaining opportunities this year.
