The Broomfield
Police Department is committed to volunteerism and actively participates
in improving the community and raising funds to benefit others.
The annual Red Robin Tip A Cop for
Special Olympics was held on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at the Red Robin
location at FlatIrons Crossing. During this fun event, officers don an
apron and talk to customers while collecting donations for Special
Olympics. This year's event raised over $2,600.

On May 29, 2008, 67
participants joined the Torch Run to raise funds for Special
Olympics; and the group raised over $1,000. Donations are accepted
throughout the year and volunteers are always needed. Visit the

Officers
visited Mountain View Elementary School on September 11, 2008 to promote the
READYColorado program. READYColorado teaches children and their families how to be ready for a variety of
disasters.
Local partners that participated in the School Preparedness Party included Adams Five Star Schools, North Metro Fire
Rescue, Broomfield Police Department, Broomfield Office of Emergency Management, and the Adams County Office of Emergency Management. The
school also hosted B. Ready, the official ambassador of READYColorado's
Passport to Preparedness campaign running during September.
In December 2007, members of the Department and community, together with
the Broomfield Rotary, participated in Santa Cops, a program designed to provide toys and food to Broomfield
families in need. In 2007, 21 families, including 58 children, received toys and
boxes of food to help them through the holidays.
Broomfield's Honor Guard posted the
colors at the Denver Grand Prix on August 13, 2006.
On a bi-monthly basis, citizens can visit local coffee shops and have
Coffee With a Cop. This program allows citizens to ask
questions or just visit with local law enforcement officers. Please
