The 2010 annual crime report shows the total number of crimes reported increased slightly from 2009.  The rate of crime (number of serious crimes for every 1,000 residents) was 21.

The rate of crime has seen a steady decline this decade, and Broomfield citizens are less likely to become the victims of crime than in the past.  In the 1980s, the rate of crime was 53 serious crimes for every 1,000 residents.  In the 1990s, the rate decreased to 38.  In the 2000s, the crime rate was 31 serious crimes for every 1,000 residents; and in 2010, the crime rate was 21.
