Crime Statistics

The 2008 annual crime report shows the total number of crimes reported remained about the same as in 2007.  This follows  decreases of 13% in 2007 and 14% in 2006, and is the lowest rate of crime in our community since the Police Department began maintaining statistics in 1980.

The rate of crime has seen a steady decline this decade, and Broomfield citizens are less likely to become the victims of crime than in the past.  In the 1980s, the rate of crime was 53 serious crimes for every 1,000 residents.  In the 1990s, the rate decreased to 38.  In 2007, the crime rate was 23 serious crimes for every 1,000 residents.
