1970s
&
1980s

This shoulder emblem was worn by Broomfield Police officers in the 1970s and 1980s.

Howard A. Cornell (far right) was appointed Chief of Police in 1987 and is shown here with lieutenants Larry Arndt, Tom Deland, and Dale Valencia.

Meet Broomfield’s 1979 Patrol Division.

Patrick C. Ahlstrom, standing beside a 1980s police vehicle, was appointed Chief of Police in 1979.

During the 1970s and 1980s, the Police Department was located in the east wing of the Municipal offices at #6 Garden Center.
