Broomfield’s Patrol Division, led by Commanders Cory Amend, Michael Clement, and Roger Plunkett is the backbone of the Police Department.  Patrol officers are first responders to emergencies. Their sharp eyes and professional actions, together with their collective work with community members on neighborhood problems, help maintain the quality of life that Broomfield residents enjoy.

Broomfield Police Officers responded to 29,577 calls for service in 2007, and the Patrol Division handled 21,989, or 74.3%, of those calls.  Calls for service are all requests from our citizens for assistance. The requests can be for a wide variety of reasons, including reports of suspicious people, neighborhood problems, or to report a crime.

In addition, Patrol Officers initiated 32,750 citizen contacts on a variety of topics in 2007. These contacts reinforce the community-oriented policing philosophy that governs the Department’s day-to-day activities.

Although the numbers of calls for service have increased over the last several years, the rate of crime in Broomfield continues to remain low. This can be attributed to our citizens who, in many cases, are calling the police for help before a crime occurs and using services in true partnership with the police.

The Court Security Unit provides security in the combined courts facility located at 17 DesCombes Drive.  A desk officer is available in Court Security for walk-in citizen assistance and counter police reports.  The Unit also offers fingerprinting to Broomfield citizens Monday and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. as well as on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.  There is no charge for this service to Broomfield residents.  Proof of residency is required.  To reach the Court Security Unit, please call 303-464-5799.
