Police Records Unit

Records Unit StaffThe Records Unit, overseen by Commander Barb Griebel, is responsible for the retention of Police Department records as well as the release of information to citizens, the court system, District Attorneys’ offices, and insurance companies regarding criminal or traffic cases.  A staff of three Records Specialists and a civilian supervisor maintain electronic and paper copies of all crime and accident reports, complete data entry of all reports, release crime information to the court or public, and forward accident information to the Colorado Department of Motor Vehicles.

The Records Unit’s counter hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.  We can be reached by phone from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at 303-438-6420.  A message service is available after hours and on holidays.
Obtaining a Copy of an Accident Report

Obtain a copy of a traffic accident report (within 24 hours of being scanned into the system) using our online service at docview.us.com.  There is a charge of $5 plus a nominal fee for using this service.  You will need the date of the accident, the Broomfield Police Department case number, and a valid credit card to access your report for a quick and easy download.  Reports can also be obtained from the Broomfield Police Department Records Unit at 7 DesCombes Drive, for $5 by mail request, or walk-in service, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.  The Records Unit is dedicated to ensuring these requests are processed quickly and efficiently.
