Facility Tour 11600 Ridge Parkway
Broomfield, CO 80021
The Broomfield Police Detention Center, located at 11600 Ridge Parkway in
southwest Broomfield, is a 50,000 square foot facility that has already made
its mark on the national corrections scene. Designed to house 80
inmates on weekdays, with expansion to 104 on weekends, the facility has
enjoyed national recognition for its design and operational philosophy.
Since the first arrest made in the new City and County of Broomfield on
November 15, 2001, the facility's first year of operation resulted in 1,900
arrestees being processed. Prior to this date, Broomfield Police
officers were required to process an arrestee in any one of four different
counties, with county jails as far away as Greeley, Colorado (40 miles).
This resulted in an inefficient use of time, money, and resources.
Voter approval in November 1998 started the long process
to build a detention facility that would serve the needs of the Broomfield
community for many years. Overall goals included incorporating current
technology, utilizing the best operational plans available, combining
several government functions into one location, and recruiting the best
people available to make it all happen.
