Technology

Technology has taken center stage within the facility.  The use of computer systems to enhance the operational capabilities of the Detention Facility is an ever-present goal.  Utilizing the latest in Jail Management software, officers are able to process an arrestee in one-half the time of their peers in other organizations.  Digital photography, electronic file sharing, laser fingerprint systems, digitally recorded CCTV systems, touch screen computers, electronic phone systems, video court, and computer-aided dispatch/communication keep the facility on the cutting edge of police detentions operations.  The facility boasts 25 computers, all linked together for greater efficiency.

Patrol officers can submit and transfer reports from their patrol cars to the facility where the booking process takes place.  As a result, driving time for prisoner transports is reduced, duplication of paperwork is eliminated, and greater operational efficiencies have been realized.  For citizens, this program means valuable time has been saved allowing patrol officers to remain on the streets preventing crime and solving problems while serving the public rather than typing and delivering reports.

The state-of-the-art video court system has already saved approximately 3,000 annual vehicle miles otherwise used to transport inmates to court.  Additional savings have been realized in reduced staffing hours for Court Security and Transport officers.

The use of available technology assists in the Center’s goal of providing a secure and humane environment for their clients, while decreasing potential litigation as they provide services to the citizens of Broomfield.
