Mission Statement
Striving to enhance the quality of the environment and quality of
life for citizens through implementing innovative technologies,
improving and maintaining the community's water, wastewater, surface
water, streets, parks, facilities, open space, cemeteries, and fleet
resources in order to provide reliable, efficient, and excellent
services. |
Public Works employs over 150 full-
and part-time staff with an annual operating budget exceeding $30 million.
Public Works also administers
numerous capital projects involving streets,
parks, water, and sewer.

Environmental Services
- Administers lab operations for water and wastewater monitoring;
responds to drinking water questions and complaints; administers
recycling and Household Hazardous Waste programs; monitors Rocky Flats

Fleet Maintenance - Purchases and maintains
City & County vehicles and equipment; provides waste oil collection
program for Broomfield residents 303-438-6336

Facility
Maintenance - Maintains and repairs all City0owned facilities;
provides custodial staff for City facilities

Street Operations
- Is responsible for over 200 miles of roadway, including maintenance
and repair; snow and ice control; traffic control (signing, painting,
and signal maintenance); street cleaning; street lighting; ditch and

Park Operations
- Is responsible for approx. 4,600 acres of park, traffic islands and
parkways, and open space areas; maintains turf and landscaped areas;
operates irrigation systems; maintains ball fields, playground

Water and Wastewater Utility Operations -
Maintains and repairs over 300 miles of water mains; inspects and
services 5,300 fire hydrants; maintains four water booster stations,
one chlorine station, five water storage facilities; installs and
maintains water meters; manages water line replacement projects;
maintains and repairs 210 miles of outfall mains and interceptors in
the sewer collection system and 10 sewer lift stations; maintains and

Water
Treatment - Is responsible for the delivery of raw water from
Carter Lake to Glasser Reservoir and on to the treatment plant;
administers the delivery of treated water to the City's water storage
tanks and end users; operates a 20-million-gallon-per-day (MGD) water
treatment plant and a 12-MGD reuse treatment facility; monitors and
operates reuse system including supply ditches, Great Western
Reservoir, and treatment facility 303-464-5600

Wastewater
Treatment - Consists of Treatment, Water Reuse Treatment,
Biosolids Reuse program, Industrial Pretreatment program and
Stormwater; treats domestic, industrial, and commercial sewage and
other wastewater to acceptable quality prior to discharge; operates
and maintains an 8-MGD biological nutrient removal activated sludge
treatment facility and a 6-MGD reuse water treatment facility;
monitors industrial discharges into the wastewater system to enforce
local, state, and federal regulations; administers stormwater permit

Water Supply Planning and
Development - Purchases raw water; administers water leases;
develops raw water infrastructures such as reservoirs, pipelines and
