Parent Supervision Policy

  • Parents are directly responsible for the safety of their children at all times!

  • Children 5 years & younger must be accompanied in the pool by a paying adult, and stay within arms reach, at all times.

  • Children who cannot swim on their own, regardless of age, must be accompanied in the pool by a paying adult, and stay within arms reach, at all times.

  • Please check in with your children frequently to make them take rest breaks, hydrate, go to the bathroom, get out of the sun, and re-apply sunblock!

  • Please help us respect the privacy and comfort level of our patrons, children 6 and older must use gender appropriate locker rooms or the family cabanas. Children 5 years and under may accompany their parents through either locker room.

Bay Rules

General Pool Rules

  • The Parks and Recreation Department reserves the right to remove anyone who does not comply to the rules of The Bay.

  • Children five years and under must be accompanied by a paying ,swimming  adult, 18 or older

  • All swimmers must take a full head and body shower before entering the pool

  • Appropriate swim suits are required.  T-shirts may be worn, but cut-offs and frayed clothing are prohibited

  • Babies must wear tight fitting plastic pants or swim diapers -- no regular diapers allowed

  • Food and drink are restricted to the decks and grass areas only

  • Gum is not allowed

  • Masks, fins, and snorkels are not allowed

  • Small floatation devices may be used - large rafts or floatation devices are not allowed

  • Soft foam toys are allowed - hard plastic toys are not allowed

  • No running on decks

  • Exercise caution on wet floors and pool decks.  Please walk at all times in the facility and ask for assistance if necessary.

  • No diving

  • No horseplay

  • No climbing on rocks

  • Boom boxes or personal stereos will not be allowed - walkmans will be allowed

  • Any activity that is considered dangerous by the lifeguard is not allowed

Main Pool – Additional rules

  • Boom boxes, personal stereos are not allowed - walkmans are allowed
  • No sitting on each others shoulders, no chicken fights
  • No squirt guns
  • No diving
  • No climbing on the rocks
  • Keep kids who cannot swim out of deep water
  • No flips off the side of the pool
  • No twists or jumping in backwards off the side of the pool
  • No hard objects
  • No swinging or hanging from ropes
  • Don’t plug water fountains on aqua works
  • Don’t look up blue water works slide
  • No chairs past tiles
  • No catching from slides or pool deck
  • Only one child can ride down otter slides per adult

Body Slide Rules

  • Attendant must be obeyed at all times
  • User must be at least 46" tall
  • Adult supervisor 18 or older will be allowed to take small child down slides
  • No catching children at the bottom of the slides
  • If under 46”, user may take a swim test – if they pass, they can get a wristband and go down the slides
  • One slider at a time -  No chains
  • When waiting your turn to slide you must remain standing
  • You must wait until the slider before you has exited the pool
  • While riding the slide you must stay seated in the flume - no stopping
  • Feet first entry only - you must ride slides on your back only
  • Upon exiting from the slide, move out of the splash down pool immediately
  • No horseplay, running on stairs, landings or waterslides
  • All other park rules apply
  • Any activity that is considered dangerous by the lifeguard is prohibited
  • No floatation devices or lifejackets allowed on body slide
  • Use at own risk

Tot Pool

  • Lifeguard must be obeyed at all times
  • User must be 46" or less and accompanied by an adult, 18 or older, who is providing direct supervision
  • No standing or walking on the slid
  • No hard toys or large floaties
  • No one may sit on the ledge by rocks or on ledge under waterfall
  • On the slide, users must stay seated or lying down
  • Exit splash area immediately
  • All other park rules apply
  • Any activity that is considered dangerous by the lifeguard is prohibited

Innertube Slide Rules

  • Only one person at a time on the Yellow tubes – no children allowed on adult laps!
  • Only two people at a time on the blue tubes – children in front – parent in back
  • Child must be big enough to be able to place their feet up on the front of the tube
  • Adults must be over 18
  • Adults may hold onto child under arms.
  • The tube and people must face forward in the blue tubes
  • No watches
  • Lifeguard must be in water
  • Wait ten seconds after the last time you see the people to let the next tube down

Paul Derda Recreation Center Pool Rules

General Pool Rules

  • No glass containers are allowed.

  • Do not climb on the rocks.

  • Do not hang on the play structures or any other structure.

  • Children five years and under must be accompanied by a paying, swimming adult, 18 or older.

  • Babies must wear tight fitting plastic pants or swim diapers.  No disposable or cloth diapers are allowed.

  • Swimmers must take full body shower before entering the pool.

  • No food or drink on deck. (Must be eaten in designated areas)

  • Proper swimwear required. (shirts are allowed)

  • No throwing of hard objects allowed.

  • Flotation devices are allowed at Lifeguard’s discretion.

  • No diving!

  • No flips off the side.

  • No dunking.

  • Exercise caution on wet floors and pool decks.  Please walk at all times in the facility and ask for assistance if necessary.

  • No snorkels, unless being used for lap swim in the lap lanes.

  • Playing in butterfly splashdown is not allowed.

  • Any activity considered dangerous by the Lifeguard is not allowed.

Spas:

  • You must be 18 years of age or older to enter the Adult Spa at the Derda Recreation Center.
  • Max of 14 adults in the adult spa and max of 18 people in the family spa.
  • Children 6-12 must be accompanied by an adult in the Family Spa at the Derda Recreation Center.
  • It is not recommended for children under 6 to enter the spa.
  • Elderly, persons with a serious illness, or pregnant women should consult a physician before entering the spa.
  • No food, drink, or tobacco products allowed in the spas.
  • Keep head above water.
  • Recommended time limit is 10 minutes.

Toy Rules:

  • Aquacise buoys, paddles and belts may not be used by open swimmers. (Adults exercising excepted)
  • Only PDRC innertubes are allowed in lazy river.  No other toys are allowed.
  • No toys in the spas.
  • Kickboards may only be used if lap swimming and only in the lap lanes.
  • Mats and toys may only be used in the lap lane area during applicable times.
  • Do not stand or sit on the kickboards.
  • Do not stand on the mats.
  • Do not slap the noodles, kickboards or mats

  • Only clear blue or clear green innertubes allowed in river.
  • Stacking tubes is not allowed.
  • No climbing on the rocks.
  • No hard toys, floaties, or kickboards.
  • No stopping at any time or swimming against the current unless during designated times.
  • Put tubes away when done.
  • All other rules apply. Any activity that is considered dangerous by the Lifeguard is prohibited.

Innertube Slide Rules

  • Only one person at a time on the single tubes – no children allowed on adult laps!
  • Only two people at a time on the double tubes – children in front – parent in back.
  • No watches
  • Lifeguard must be in water
  • Wait until the guards at the bottom of the slide give you the signal before you send the next tube down 
  • Stay seated at all times down the slide
  • Child must be big enough to be able to place their feet up on the front of the tube.   Adults must be over 18.  Adults may hold child under their arms.
  • The tube and people in tube must face forward.
  • Put tubes away when done
  • Children are not allowed to ride down the tubes on parents laps.

Broomfield Community Center Pool Rules

  • Swimmers must take full body shower before entering the pool

  • No running on decks

  • No food or drink on deck (Must be eaten on sundeck)

  • No gum allowed

  • Do not hang on lane lines

  • Proper swimwear required (shirts are allowed)

  • No throwing of hard objects allowed

  • Flotation devises are allowed at Lifeguard’s discretion

  • No diving in water less than 9 ft deep

  • No flips off the side

  • Exercise caution on wet floors and pool decks.  Please walk at all times in the facility and ask for assistance if necessary.

  • No dunking

  • Children under five years of age must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older

  • Any activity considered dangerous by the Lifeguard is not allowed

Spa:

  • You  must be 14 to enter spa
  • If you are not 14,  you must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older IN THE SPA
  • Keep head above water
  • No swimming allowed –you must find a place to sit down
  • Recommended time is 10 minutes

Diving Board:

  • One person on the board at a time
  • Wait your turn in line (off the board, behind the ladder)
  • Only one bounce on board allowed
  • Divers must go STRAIGHT off the END of the board
  • Wait until person in front of you has swam to the side before going off the board
  • No running or pushing
  • Do not hang on or climb any part of the board
  • Do not adjust the fulcrum unless during diving practice
  • If the diver cannot swim to the wall independently, they may not go off
  • Board is closed during water arthritis class
  • Swimmers must stay out of the diving well

Rope Swing:

  • You must swing out and drop – no swinging back to the wall
  • Do not swing around in a circle
  • You must enter feet first
  • Do not tie the rope in a knot
  • Do not climb the rope
  • You must swing from the deck - using kickboards or bleachers, and holding children up on the rope is not allowed.

Basketball Hoop:

  • Do not touch the net or rim – No dunking
  • You must shoot from inside the water
  • Basketball may no be available during classes

Toys:

  • Aquacise buoys, paddles and belts may not be used by open swimmers (Adults exercising excepted)

  • No toys in the spa
  • Do not stand or sit on the kickboards
  • Do not stand on the mats
