Camp Explorer (6-12 years)
It’s all about fun and friends for the summer! Kids are busy with games,
arts & crafts, field trips, swimming, and playing. Camp is held at Aspen
Creek K-8 where the staff spreads around the school to engage groups of
campers in different games and activities. Typically, campers will go to
the Paul Derda Recreation Center one day, the Bay on another, and
have a field trip outside of Broomfield on another. Camp Explorer
begins on June 6, 2011. Be sure to register for Pre-Camp if you
need to cover
May 31-June 3.
Extreme
Explorer (11-14 years)
Extreme Explorer camp offers 4 field trips a week instead of 3! Kids
will still go to The Bay, Paul Derda, and an outside field trip with
Camp Explorer, but will also get an additional outside field trip. Past
field trips have included Elitch Gardens, Water World, Boondocks,
Jump-street, Rafting, Ropes Courses, and more. There will also be
volunteering opportunities for the kids to help out in the community.
Extreme Explorer begins on June 6, 2011. Be sure to register for Pre-Camp if you
need to cover
May 31-June 3.
Jr. Leader Camp
(14-15 years)
Our Jr. Leaders will have fun and still enjoy the extreme field trips
and outside field trips with their friends but will help out with
leading younger groups and learning how to be a Camp Explorer summer
camp aide. Always under the direction of the summer camp staff, Jr.
Leaders will start out with groups of 2-4 kids to help supervise when go
to The Bay and Paul Derda Recreation and as the Jr. Leaders are ready
their groups will get bigger. The Jr. Leaders will also be able to plan
and facilitate activities at Aspen Creek, work with other Jr. Leaders
and the camp staff to improve their leadership skills, help camp run
smoothly, and see their ideas turn into reality. Jr. Leader camp begins
on June 6, 2011. Applications for Jr. Leader will be available
during the child's first week of camp.
Extension Camp (6-15 years)
Camp Explorer has ended, but school hasn’t begun! Broomfield Recreation
Services offers a 2 week extension program held at The Broomfield
Community Center. EVERY DAY has field trips! While
at the Broomfield Community Center kids will still enjoy games, arts & crafts, and
Camp Explorer staff. Register early, space is limited!
Camp Extras
We've added three different Camp Extras!
Choose from Swim Lessons, Backstory Theatre and Skyhawks Sport Camps. Or
sign them up for all three!
Cirque Summer Session
If you are looking for fun things to do just a couple of days per week,
sign up for Cirque! We meet in the mornings in the loft at the
Broomfield Community Center and then go on a full day trip. You pay the
admission fee at the gate and we will provide the transportation, and
supervision. Tentative trips include: Alpine Slide, Denver Zoo, Pirate’s
Cove, Fun City, Elitch’s, Argo Mine, Water World, Brighton Oasis, The
Rez, Casa Bonita, Whitewater Rafting, and more. For trip details,
admission fees, waivers, forms, and the parent packet please to the teen
page at www.broomfieldrecreation.com. Please note: some trips may need
to leave earlier than 9 a.m.. Weekly registration will open if space is
available on May 18, 2012.
