Open Space And Trails Mission Statement To acquire open space and create a comprehensive trail system so that each citizen has the opportunity to experience the beauty of Broomfield’s natural environment and to walk or bike to a variety of destinations.

Preschool Wednesday Morning Nature Walks

Get a different feel for Broomfield’s open space as you explore it with a naturalist after dark. These walks are scheduled to occur either during a full moon or a new moon. Please bring a flashlight. There is NO CHARGE for these programs! Download a map of the Ponds here!

Friday Kid’s Classes

Friday Kid’s Classes are a fun introduction to the world around us. Learn about the natural world from a kid’s point of view with lots of hands - on activities. Register with Community Center or Paul Derda Recreation Center. Meet at the location listed below. There will be a charge of $3.00 per child for these programs. For ages 6 - 11 years.    

Stupendous Spiders

This class is designed for children who want to know more about spiders. Students will learn what makes spiders special and how important they are to our world.

This class is designed for children who want to know more about trees. Students will learn the parts of a tree, why trees are important, and how trees are preparing for the winter.

Family Moonlight Walks

These night walks are designed especially for families, with kids of all ages. Each Friday evening walk, around one of Broomfield’s outstanding open space areas, is scheduled to coincide with a new or full moon. Please dress for the weather! Please bring a flashlight. There is NO CHARGE for these programs.
