MEALS ON WHEELS

What is Meals on Wheels?
Fresh, hot, nutritious meals are delivered to your home by volunteers, Monday through Friday, between 11:00 am and 12:30 pm.  Frozen meals are available for delivery on Friday if you need meals for the weekends as well.

Am I eligible for Meals on Wheels?
Any adult at least 60 years of age, at any income level, who is homebound and/or lives alone, and is unable to prepare meals for themselves is eligible for service.  You must reside in the City and County of Broomfield.

Care giving family members who reside at the same address may also qualify for Meals on Wheels.

Individuals under the age of 60 may qualify with a medical referral.  Short term or temporary service with a minimum of 5 days is available for those individuals recuperating from a recent hospitalization and/or serious illness.

Service Policy
An application for service needs to be completed prior to receiving meals.  The length of service is determined by your need.  There is no time limit and service is available on a short term basis or over a prolonged period of time.  An in-home assessment by a Senior Services staff member will occur within 2 weeks of starting the Meals on Wheels service.  Additional in-home assessments may be conducted at the discretion of the Senior Services Staff.  Application forms may be obtained at the Broomfield Community Center or by calling 303-464-5532.

Meal Delivery
If you are receiving Meals on Wheels, the Senior Services staff requests that you provide a minimum of 24 hours notice for any changes or cancellations regarding meal delivery.  If an individual does not answer when delivery is attempted, a Senior Services staff member will be notified.  A follow-up will be conducted by the Broomfield Police Department if we are unable to reach your emergency contact on file.

Fee Schedule
There is a charge of $4.00 per meal and these charges are billed monthly.
If the cost of these meals is a financial hardship for you, financial assistance may be available and would be determined by a member of the Senior Services staff.

Senior Services of the City and County of Broomfield would like to acknowledge and thank Senior Resources of Broomfield, Inc., Broomfield Community Foundation, Rocky Flats Foundation, and our hardworking, dedicated volunteers for their continued support of the Broomfield Meals on Wheels program.

If you are interested in more information or would like to see if we could use your help by volunteering for Meals on Wheels, please call 303-464-5532.
