How to get started and how the volunteer process works:

  • Each perspective volunteer must attend a volunteer orientation.  The orientation is mandatory because of the information it provides and also allows you to become comfortable with the Center, our programs, and staff.  See our orientation dates and sign up if you're interested.

  • At the orientation, each perspective volunteer will be given a job description of each position, availability sheet, volunteer procedures, an application, and a tour of the facility.

  • Once the application is submitted, a background check will be performed.  Once cleared, you will be contacted by the volunteer coordinator to arrange for training and work hours.

  • Training will be given by the volunteer coordinator before your work assignment begins.  Depending on the volunteer position, the training may last one to three hours.  Schedule of times is flexible.

Current volunteer opportunities with Senior Services

Please note, these opportunities may change and may not be currently available.  Inquire with Volunteer Coordinator.

Senior Art Cart -
The Senior Art Cart is an outlet for Broomfield seniors to sell their handmade arts and crafts on a consignment basis.  The cart is currently located in the atrium of the City and County building on 1 Des Combes Drive.   It is open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Proceeds go to benefit the Meals on Wheels program to help give hot, nutritious meals to our Broomfield Seniors!

Meals on Wheels - Substitute Drivers -
Be a part of something that truly makes a difference in someone's life!  We are looking for substitute drivers to help out in case regular drivers have become ill, have an appointment, vacation, etc. This is an on-call position and may allow weeks to just a few hours notice.  Hours are 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m.  You must be able to have your own car for transportation of the meals.

Friendly Visitor Program -
This program is in the process of re-organization.  If you are interested, we welcome your application and will notify you once we are ready to begin again.

Handyman Chore Program -
Help seniors with minor home repairs.  Must fill out an application, go through an interview, background check and be selected to volunteer.

Special Events -
Senior Center has several special events throughout the year.  These are a fun and social atmosphere for all involved.  We often need a few extra hands to help make these events run smoothly.  If you'd like to help out, just once in a while, please contact us to sign up!  Must fill out application and have background check.
