Broomfield 50th
Anniversary Video, "Broomfield: Spirit of the American Dream"
Produced by Havey Productions of Denver for the City and County of
Broomfield, the documentary traces Broomfield back to a time, when
Colorado was still being carved out of the wilderness, when the
highlands between Denver and Boulder were dotted with farms and
homesteads. In those days, the American dream was focused on the promise
and freedom of the West.
At the dawn of the twentieth century settlers and ranchers in the
Broomfield area were drawn to the hilly land away from the growing
cities for its clean air, expansive vistas and country charm. These same
qualities inspired suburban pioneers and returning war veterans who
brought their families to Broomfield in the 1950s and created a unique
development on this land, featuring streets curved to the rolling
contours of Broomfield Heights.
Broomfield's story is interpreted in this 50th Anniversary film
revealing how Colorado's first Master Planned Community -- the city by
the turnpike -- embodied the new spirit of the American dream.
DVD: 30 minutes
