2009 Asphalt Overlay and Concrete Replacement Program
Asphalt overlay and concrete replacement is an annual Capital Improvement Program undertaken to improve the condition
of Broomfield's existing transportation and stormwater drainage systems.
Through its Pavement Management System,
the Public Works Department maintains an inventory of all the streets in Broomfield. The
inventory, which is updated yearly, assesses the surface condition of each street. The system is used as a tool by staff
to determine which streets need to be included in street improvement programs and what treatment they should receive.
Street Selection for Overlay
Using the Pavement Management System's ratings as a tool, a prioritized list of streets in need of an overlay
is
developed. Based on funds available for overlay and concrete replacement, 32 street sections totaling 4.93 miles were
included in the 2009 program. This compares to 4.23 miles that were overlaid in 2008. The streets
that received
asphalt overlay in 2009 are identified below.
