Storage Tanks

The Broomfield Utilities Division maintains five water storage tanks: four above-ground elevated steel tanks and one below-ground pre-stressed reinforced concrete tank with a combined storage capacity of 15.95 million gallons of which 12 million gallons are potable water. The other 3.95 million gallons of storage are for future reuse water to supply irrigation for parks and golf courses.

Purpose of Storage Distribution storage reservoirs are used to supply a reserve of water for emergencies or contingencies, such as fire flows, maximum peak demand (high usage during summer months), or water loss caused by a major water main failure.
