Now, inspiring the modern Celtic world to do the same is Take Down the Door, a new traditional band from Lyons and Boulder Colorado. The band’s foot-stomping, heart-stopping, wide-open sound reflects both the band’s name and its natural habitat.

Born in Cuba and raised in Chicago, Eddie “Devil Boy” Turner first picked up a guitar at the age of 12. He honed his craft growing up in Chicago, and later Colorado, and his music shows the diverse influences of the Afro-Cuban sounds of his homeland and the deep blues of his adopted country. A diverse blend of rock, voodoo blues and R&B peppered with African rhythms, Turner’s music moves the feet, while simultaneously haunting the soul.

The interweaving lead vocals of Ghana Queen and the Reverend EverReady are laid over a hard-grooving, rhythm section and ornamented by the notorious Soul Shouters Horns. With lyrics reminiscent of the intelligence, humor and social consciousness of their legendary influences, and a relentlessly upbeat drive to their musical arrangements, the group lifts listeners’ spirits into a rarefied atmosphere. Band members include LaSha Afarko, Will Baumgartner, Maus Nomdeguerre, Paul Stadler, Alice Hansen, Matt Wilkolak, Mark Wilkolak, and Thom Holum.

ZIV is scheduled to release his fourth studio album late 2017 - early 2018 under EMC2 Recording Group.
