Story Times  (September - May)

My First Story Time - Thursdays, 9:15 or 10 a.m. Newborn - 24 months
20 minutes of stories followed by a short playtime for your baby or young toddler. Pick up a free ticket at the Children’s Desk beginning 30 minutes before the program. *September 5 - 26, play with your child and meet early childhood experts during our new program Play & Learn for Babies on Thursday mornings at 9:30 a.m.

Twos and Threes Together - Wednesdays, 9:15 & 10 a.m. 2 & 3 year-olds
This 25-30 minute program includes age-appropriate stories, songs, rhymes and fingerplays that help toddlers develop skills in oral language, listening and motor development while fostering a love of reading and books. Pick up a free ticket at the Children’s Desk beginning 30 minutes before the program. *Wednesday, October 2 - 23 at 10 a.m., play with your child and meet early childhood experts during our revamped program Play & Learn for Toddlers.

Side-By-Side Preschool Story Time - Tuesdays, 10 a.m. 3 - 6 year-olds (child with an adult)
Preschoolers will develop early literacy skills, self-confidence, and curiosity through fun stories and activities. Pick up a free ticket at the Children’s Desk beginning 30 minutes before the program.  *Tuesdays, November 5 - 26 at 10 a.m., play with your child and meet early childhood experts during our new program Play & Learn for Preschoolers.

On My Own Preschool Story Time - Tuesdays, 10:45 a.m. 3 - 6 year-olds (kids on their own) 
Preschoolers will develop early literacy skills, self-confidence, and curiosity through fun stories and activities. We ask children to attend without their caregivers to help develop a sense of independence that will be needed as they start school. Pick up a free ticket at the Children’s Desk beginning 30 minutes before the program. *Tuesdays, November 5 - 26 at 10 a.m., play with your child and meet early childhood experts during our new program Play & Learn for Preschoolers.

Family Story Time - Thursdays, 10:45 a.m. All ages
Join us for a wonderful shared experience for the whole family. Age appropriate activities are presented in three segments from younger to older in order to meet the developmental needs of babies, toddlers, and preschoolers. Transitions are built in so younger children can take a break if necessary. Pick up a free ticket at the Children’s Desk beginning 30 minutes before the program.

Story Time at Paul Derda Rec Center - 3rd Friday of the month, 11:40 a.m. All ages 
Stick around for Story Time for families with children of all ages. Drop in (registration not necessary).

Around the World Bilingual Fun - 3rd Saturday of the month, 10 - 11 a.m. All ages 
Come enjoy a craft and story time in a different language every month. Pick up a free ticket at the Children’s Desk beginning 30 minutes before the program.

Ongoing Programs (September - May)

Music & Movement - Mondays, 10 - 10:30 a.m. 2 - 6 year-olds 
Children and their caregivers move, dance, sing, and have fun! Drop in (registration not necessary).

Cuddletime Concert - 2nd Saturday of the month, 10 - 10:30 a.m. Newborn - 35 months
Bring your special little ones and enjoy dancing, cuddling, singing and playing together in these interactive music programs for babies and young toddlers with their parent or caregiver. A schedule of performers will be available in the Children's Library monthly Newsletter. Drop in (registration not necessary).

Play & Learn for Babies - Thursdays, September 5 - 26, 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Newborn - 18 months
Read, write, sing, talk and play with your child while you ask professionals about early literacy, baby sign language, nutrition, health and development. Drop in (registration not necessary).

Play & Learn for Toddlers - Wednesdays, October 2 - 23, 10 - 11:15 a.m. 18 - 35 months
Read, write, sing, talk and play with your child while you ask professionals about early literacy, speech & language development, nutrition, health, physical development and behavior. Drop in (registration not necessary).

Play & Learn for Preschoolers - Tuesdays, November 5 - 26, 10 - 11:15 a.m. 3 - 5 years-olds.

Special Programs (September - May)

Grandparents Read and Play - Saturday, August 17, 2 - 3 p.m. 18 & up
Are you a grandparent taking care of young children? Join us at the Westminster College Hill Library for this informative session to learn more about healthy child development and early learning. Leave the training with new ideas and a free children's book, courtesy of the Broomfield Library. Bonus hour from 3 - 4 p.m. will include ways to develop early literacy skills when you share books with young children. Participants who stay until 4 p.m. are eligible for a raffle drawing for children's books and educational toys. Registration begins on July 27. Let’s Talk Parenting in the Early Years - Thursday, October 24, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. 18 & up
Come for an evening exploring parenting young children and tools for responding to challenging behaviors with Alyson Jiron, Psychotherapist and Bal Swan Children’s Center Parent Educator. Free childcare will be provided, courtesy of Paul Derda Rec Center. Free dinner will be provided for adults. Please bring snacks for children who will be in child sitting. Visit the PDRC Child Sitting website for a list or approved snacks. Registration begins July 18 (add link). 

Polar Express Story Time - Saturday, December 21, 10 - 11 a.m. & 1 - 2 p.m. All ages
You will almost be able to hear the train whistle and sleigh bells as you enjoy the festive holiday decorations at the Broomfield Depot Museum. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served to warm your belly while you listen to the story of The Polar Express. Feel free to come in your favorite pajamas. Drop in (registration not necessary).

Holiday Open House, Saturday, November 30, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. All ages
Celebrate the holiday season with the library! Enjoy cookies and live music in the lobby and discover fun crafts for children, teens, and adults throughout the Library.

Winter Reading Program, December 1 - January 12, Newborn - 12 years
Kids can read and earn a prize this winter! Registration is required at broomfield.beanstack.org beginning December 1. Challenge runs December 1 - January 12.

Happy Noon Year - Tuesday, December 31, 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. & 2 - 3 p.m. All ages
Enjoy a fun theater performance for the whole family! Countdown with hats and blowers at the end of each show. Fun for all ages! Pick up a free ticket in the Auditorium Lobby beginning 1 hour before each show!
