State and Federal Resources

  • The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA or Act) requires certain employers to provide their employees with paid sick leave or expanded family and medical leave for specified reasons related to COVID-19. This Act went into effect on April 1.
  • Sick Leave: On March 11, the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE) published emergency rules which temporarily require employers in certain industries to provide a small amount of paid sick leave to employees with flu-like symptoms while awaiting COVID-19 testing. The Colorado Health Emergency Leave with Pay (“Colorado HELP”) rules requires up to four days of paid sick for employees being tested for coronavirus COVID-19 in select industries which include: leisure and hospitality; food services; child care; education, including transportation, food service, and related work at educational establishments; home health if working with elderly, disabled, ill, or otherwise high-risk individuals and; nursing homes and community living facilities.
  • Unemployment: Filing for Unemployment Insurance Benefits can be done online.
  • Registering with the network of Colorado Workforce Centers can be done online. Through an individual registration, there are many online resources available including items in the “toolbox”.
