About Us
The City and County of Broomfield is one of the safest communities in Colorado, and its residents have come to expect high quality police services. With this in mind, the BPD continues to implement policing strategies consistent with the community oriented policing philosophy developed over the years by our department. Broomfield's unique model of providing both municipal and county law enforcement services by one agency has created significant operational efficiencies that have contributed to a streamlined process for reducing the overall rate of crime.
Broomfield was recently ranked the 14th safest city in Colorado by 'Safewise.' The department is committed to enhancing the quality of life in the community by protecting life and property, and providing services to prevent crime and resolve problems. To fulfill this commitment, the police department continually evaluated best practices and trends in policing to better serve our community. We do this through community policing programs such as National Night Out, Santa Cops, Neighborhood Watch, and our Citizens and Teen Academies.
Currently, the police department consists of 237 full-time equivalent employees, including 181 sworn police and detention officers.
COMMUNITY CRIME MAP - Sometimes referred to as the 'Police Blotter,' the community crime map provides up-to-date information on crime in your area.
