Beginning the week of January 2, 2023, the City and County of Broomfield and their contractor, GoodLand Construction, Inc. will begin work at the intersection of West 136th Avenue and Aspen Street. This work is expected to be completed in two phases. Phase 1 will consist of all underground utility work as well as concrete and asphalt work. Phase 2, is expected to begin later in the spring which will include the installation of new traffic signals. This project is anticipated to be completed in June 2023.
Prior to work beginning, you may see the mobilization of equipment and City and contractor personnel working in and around the intersection.
The contractor is authorized to perform work Monday through Friday anytime between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. and on Saturdays between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. For your safety, please observe all construction signage and any direction from traffic control personnel. Traffic will be able to move through the intersection throughout construction, however, please expect higher than normal wait times at the intersection. Alternate routes are advised when possible.

PROJECT BACKGROUND
The 2022 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) budget includes funding to construct a traffic signal and intersection improvements at the intersection of West 136th Avenue and Aspen Street. This intersection currently meets traffic signal warrants as determined by the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). Additionally, residential development around this area will continue to cause an increase in traffic at this intersection.
