Join us for a guided tour through PDRC to learn how to use the cardio and nine pieces of Cybex equipment for a complete total body workout. Register at the PDRC or BCC front desks. For orientations at BCC contact Veronica at 303-460-6928.

Classic


Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is provided and used for seated and/or standing support.

Circuit


Combine fun and fitness to increase cardio and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper body strength work with hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball is alternated with non-impact aerobic choreography. A chair is offered for support, stretching and relaxation exercises.

This is an opportunity to receive an overall “snapshot” of your fitness status. Participate in five different exercises to test muscular strength, flexibility, body composition, balance and power. When completed, you will have a better understanding of your physical stamina and where you can improve. Please wear “workout” clothes and bring water. Register at the PDRC or BCC front desk. Weight Training For Active Adults

Class Listings
Instruction is given on weight machines and cardio equipment. Learn the appropriate settings and technique for different exercises designed for your body and its changing needs. This six-week class is taught by a certified personal trainer.

Healthy Hearts Walking Program


A Walkabout through Australia
For Adults 55 years and older

Join us at the Paul Derda Recreation Center for the Healthy Hearts Walking Program. No registration required. For SilverSneakers members or Paul Derda Annual Recreation pass holders, there is no cost and all other participants  pay only $1 per visit. We will warm up, stretch and walk on the track. There is staff on-site to assist and help you. We have a party at the end of the session to celebrate our great success! For more questions, please call Kim at 303.464.5536.

Purchase a Yoga/Pilates/Tai Chi 10-Punch Pass for your convenience and attend any of our classes. Please pick up a number at the front desk anytime up to 90 minutes prior to the class start time. You may check out our current schedule at the Broomfield Community Center or the Paul Derda Recreation Center or on our website.

Gentle Yoga


No matter what your physical condition, age, abilities or disabilities, doing yoga is the next level of self-care. This class lets one enjoy a balance between mind, body and spirit, which is achieved by slow stretching and strengthening poses, focus and concentration, breathing and relaxation exercises. Wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring a blanket. It's best to come with an empty stomach. This is a drop-in class!

Serenity Yoga


This is a 45-minute yoga practice which focuses on providing a sense of calm and well-being, to help lower the body's production of physical and mental stressors that compromise the immune system. designed for those living with a chronic condition such as MS and/or other auto-immune disorders, Serenity Yoga provides participants with the tools to help combat depression (possibly due to the physical condition), focus on the positive and let go of the rest. Breath work and meditation, a multitude of variations and modifications of poses and postures are introduced. Serenity Yoga is "do-able" regardless of the body's abilities.

Active Adult Yoga


A regular practice of yoga is beneficial for everyone, regardless or gender, age, or fitness level. Join us for a practice that will integrate the strength, balance and flexibility of a yoga class along with breathing exercises to achieve harmony between body and mind, as well as stress relief. Each class will be a journey through physical and mental balance that can be tailored to individual needs.

Active Adult Yoga Workshops

Class Listings
Work with a yoga instructor in a small group to focus on the primary poses used in yoga class. Whether you have been attending for years or are new to your yoga practice, you will benefit from the workshop.

Tai Chi


Taijiquan (Tai Chi) is a Chinese exercise and martial art for the body, mind and spirit. Practiced in a slow, relaxed manner that cultivates internal energy, mental awareness, a sense of calm; and improves balance, coordination, circulation, and muscle tone. New and continuing students are welcome to join this class. The class is on a monthly schedule. You can join Tai Chi at the beginning of each month.

Move It, Improve It Exercise Class


An exercise class that targets specific Parkinson's deficits: balance, gait, postural stability, rigidity, strength, flexibility, hand dexterity, cognition, voice, Akinesia and Bradykinesia.
