The state has been working with scientists and Colorado wastewater utilities to monitor levels of COVID-19 particles found in wastewater. The research is ongoing and aims to understand how widespread COVID-19 is in wastewater and how that information could be used to predict case count trends.
The City and County of Broomfield has been part of the Front Range initiative to monitor the virus in wastewater since August 2020. Wastewater samples have been collected twice per week and evaluated alongside reported case counts. Preliminary data for this monitoring project is now available by visiting https://bit.ly/3mXA3j7.
