From the statewide stay-at-home orders and sewing masks at home, to highly effective vaccines and at-home testing options, the COVID-19 landscape has changed dramatically since the pandemic first began. The actions of Broomfielders and advances in science have made an extraordinary impact in our community.

Broomfield, to date, has had 13,013 COVID-19 cases, 438 hospitalizations, and 112 deaths due to COVID-19.
“The sacrifices that the community has made to protect each other are not lost on us. This has been an incredibly difficult two years, and we have learned a lot about this novel virus. We have also learned that our community is strong and cares about each other, and we are incredibly grateful that almost 80% of eligible Broomfielders are fully vaccinated. We have and will continue to follow the data available to us as we move into a new phase of living with the virus. Over the next few months, we will be building capacity for any future waves of COVID-19 and ensuring that we are implementing Colorado’s new roadmap for response.” - Jason Vahling, Director of Public Health
In the past two years, over 210,000 COVID-19 tests have been conducted, and 149,670 doses of the COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to Broomfield residents. Broomfield has the 4th highest vaccination rate in the state, and has lower hospitalization and death rates than two-thirds of all other Colorado counties.

I think back to different points of the pandemic - when the Library had online story time, when our Recreation staff transitioned to working at the 1STBANK mass vaccination clinics, and all points in between and after - and I am in awe that we have made it here. Broomfield is working with state and local partners to implement “Colorado’s Next Chapter: Our Roadmap to Moving Forward.” This roadmap outlines the four main steps to maintain a level of preparedness and agility to keep Coloradans safe and healthy in the event of exacerbated or new public health challenges.
