The Broomfield Police Department's mission is to enhance the quality of life in the community by protecting life and property while also providing services to prevent crime and resolve problems.

Chief of Police 

Enea Hempelmann was appointed Chief of Police for the City and County of Broomfield in January 2022. In addition to traditional police services, Chief Hempelmann overseas the detention center along with other county-related responsibilities. The Broomfield Police Department is organized into three bureaus and eight divisions with three deputy chiefs overseeing each bureau. Deputy Chief Mike Clement oversees Special Operations, Deputy Chief Mark Goodell oversees Support Services which includes the Broomfield Detention Center, and Deputy Chief Roger Plunkett oversee Field Operations.
