It was Lucy Stone who converted Susan B. Anthony to the cause of women’s suffrage. Stone was the first Massachusetts woman to earn a college degree, and soon after, she began to lecture for the Massachusetts Anti-Slavery Society, at a time when it was forbidden for women to speak in public. Admitting that, “I was a woman before I was an abolitionist, I must speak for the women.” Stone spent her life devoted to women’s issues. Join Lyda Mary Hardy for this first-person living history portrayal of Lucy Stone.

Charlie Chaplin’s The Kid 1h 8 Min
Chaplin stars as his lovable Tramp character, this time raising an orphan (Jackie Coogan) he has rescued from the streets. Chaplin and Coogan make a miraculous pair in this nimble marriage of sentiment and slapstick, a film that is, as its opening title card states, “a picture with a smile—and perhaps, a tear.”

Buster Keaton’s One Week 25 Min
The story of two newlyweds, their attempt to make a home together – literally – and their subsequent realization that a house is not always a home, and in fact, in this case, it may be an impossibility.

The Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra is a five piece chamber ensemble that revives the repertoire of silent film orchestras. Using historic libraries of music, and selecting and fitting a piece of music for each scene in the film, Mont Alto compiles vibrant and emotional scores using the original techniques of silent film orchestras.
