Additional Utility Charges

Federal Mandate

Assessed to comply with federal regulations regarding sewer discharges, as established by the Environmental Protection Agency.

  • Monthly Rate: $0.52 per thousand gallons x Average Winter Consumption (AWC*)
  • All new accounts are charged a flat, monthly rate of $3.12 per Equivalent Residential Unit (minimum ERU* of 1) until a winter average is established for that account.
  • The minimum charge for any account is $2.10.

Broomfield's Utility Enterprise Funds Update

Broomfield staff is currently recommending increased rates for the enterprise funds (water, sewer and stormwater) to cover the costs of providing respective services to customers. Visit the Recommendations Proposed page within the Broomfield's Utility Enterprise Funds website to see an overview of the proposed increases related to each fund and a proposal for adding a dedicated funding mechanism for a stormwater enterprise fund.

Environmental Compliance Fee

Assessed to comply with federal regulations regarding the maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment facility.

  • Monthly Rate: $9.00 x Equivalent Residential Unit (minimum ERU* of 1)
  • Multi-unit, residential buildings are charged a flat, monthly rate of $10.35 per dwelling unit.
  • The minimum charge for any account is $10.35.

Sewer Surcharge

An additional sewer charge will be assessed on accounts that have excess BOD, COD, or TSS. For more information, please contact the Wastewater Division at 303-438-6339.

Stormwater

  • Single Family Residential $12.00
  • Multi - Unit Townhomes/Duplex $9.60 per unit
  • Multi - Unit Apartment $7.20 per unit
  • Commercial - $2.88 per 1,000 square feet of impervious area

Standby Fire Protection

There is an additional monthly charge for dedicated fire lines, as follows:
