What is Non-Potable Reclaimed Water?
Non-potable reclaimed water is wastewater treated with an advanced treatment system to be reused for beneficial purposes like landscape irrigation, agriculture and industrial water use. Although this water is not treated to pure drinking water standards, it is treated to a very high quality. It is also commonly referred to as “reuse water”, “recycled water” and “non-potable reclaimed water”.

History and Background
Water is a precious, limited resource in the arid Rocky Mountain region. The demands on this resource continue to grow with our expanding population. In order to reduce the demands on potable water and ensure adequate supplies for the future, Broomfield, like many other Front Range communities, utilizes non-potable reclaimed water for park and golf course irrigation purposes. Non-potable reclaimed water can provide alternatives to potable water supplies and be used for the sustainability of our water resources.
