Residential Waste Services Program Fees and Resources

Residential rates are effective through March 31, 2026. Per the contract, prices can only increase once per year after that, and not more than the Urban Consumer Price Index.

Minimum Service Fee (Opt-Out Fee)

Residents who wish to opt out of the program will be required to pay the minimum service fee of $10.50 per month. The City and County of Broomfield will bill residents on the fourth Thursday of each month for the opt-out fee. (This bill will be separate from the Utility Bill). 

Bulky Item Fee

Items too large to be placed in a closed trash cart can be picked up by Waste Connections for $25 per item. Contact Waste Connection at 303-288-2100 or through the Waste Connections online pickup request form to set up a scheduled service day and instruction for setting out the large items. 

Return Trip Fee

If a customer forgets to put out their trash and recycling, the customer may contact Waste Connections by calling 303-288-2100, or using the WasteConnectTM Mobile App, and request a return trip. Waste Connections may charge $65 for this return trip.

Discounts

Seniors (age 65+), veterans, and active military get a 10% discount on prices listed above. Residents can call Waste Connections at 303-288-2100 and provide their date of birth for senior discount and military active dates for discount.

Recycling Resources

Please refer to these Recycling Guidelines when determining what items can be recycled in the Residential Waste Services program. In general, the following items can be recycled: 

  • Paper 
  • Cardboard
  • Food and beverage cartons
  • Glass
  • Plastic bottles, tubs, jugs, and jars. 
  • Plastic clamshells, lids, and take-out containers
  • Rigid plastics (#2 and #5 only)

The City and County of Broomfield operates the Broomfield Recycling Center for residents. This facility accepts cardboard, newspaper, plastic containers, and aluminum cans. Please visit the website for more information. For other recycling opportunities, please visit the Broomfield Recycling Guide

Organics Collection

At this time, compost collection is not part of the program. Residents are encouraged to use the Broomfield Tree Branch Recycle Center for disposal of tree branches.
