Asphalt Maintenance

Broomfield's Pavement Preservation Program is a multistep approach where annual funds are first applied to mitigating streets that are in disrepair and require heavy maintenance as well as preserving streets keeping them in good condition; this extends the service life of the street.

What you can expect if pavement preservation is happening on your street:

Signs will be placed at least two days beforehand to notify you when the contractor is scheduled to be on your street. These “No Parking” signs are dated for the scheduled work and are enforced while the contractor is working on your street. Parking restrictions are effective during working hours only. Violators may be towed; please contact Street Services at 303-438-6334 if you need assistance removing your vehicle from the street. Overnight parking restrictions are not anticipated.

Work is allowed from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday in the residential areas, including neighborhood park areas. In non-residential areas, work is also allowed on Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. No work is allowed on Sundays or holidays. Traffic delays can be expected during working hours.

What you can expect if asphalt patching is happening on your street:

Asphalt patching is a maintenance tool that helps the Streets Division repair localized road damage, repair large transverse cracks, and repair areas after utility work, such as water breaks. It also cost-effectively prolongs pavement lifespans and maintains a drivable road surface. The work is generally a two-part process. First, our contractual patching crew performs the asphalt cuts in preparation for the second step, which is the asphalt patching work: removing the old asphalt and reinstalling new asphalt.

We aim to maintain worksites with as much accessibility as possible for residents. If the road needs to be closed or if residents won't have access to their driveways, we will conduct advanced door-to-door outreach, provide notifications, place road closure signs, and mail letters if time allows. Alternatively, we will place letters on doors in advance of any road closure.
