Candidate and Campaign Information

City Council's regular meetings are normally scheduled for the second (2nd) and fourth (4th) Tuesday of each month.  The meetings are held at 6 p.m. at the George Di Ciero City and County Building, 1 DesCombes Drive.

Terms of Office

The Mayor shall be elected from the City and County at large for a two-year term, and can be elected up to three (3) consecutive 2-year terms. Councilmembers elected from each of the five (5) wards of the city shall be elected for a four-year term, and can be elected up to three (3) consecutive 4-year terms.  One councilmember from each ward and the Mayor shall be elected in each regular election per the Broomfield City Charter.  The term of the office for councilmembers and the Mayor shall commence on their taking the oath of office at the ensuing organizational meeting of the council held after the election.

  • The Broomfield logo cannot be used without the City's permission. The City cannot endorse any specific candidate or provide any contributions to candidates.
  • No elected official shall be a salaried employee of the City during their term of office, nor perform personal services for the City for compensation.
  • Term limits for Councilmembers have been updated from 2 consecutive 4-year terms to 3 consecutive 4-year terms.
  • At the February 12, 2025 city council meeting, council voted to amend the effective date for the implementation of ranked voting elections for city council and mayoral elections until the Secretary of State's Office has established audit rules beginning with the November 2, 2027 municipal election.
