Applying for a Water License (Non-Residential)

City Council passed Ordinance 2287 on October 28, 2025, amending section 13-02-030 of Broomfield Municipal Code to set new requirements for obtaining a water license for new non-residential development or redevelopment in Broomfield. Applying for a new non-residential water license requires filling out and submitting the online form linked below. A water license cannot be issued until a building permit is issued or until a standalone irrigation tap is approved. The water license application form should be filled out and submitted at the same time as applying for a building permit. The form linked below should be used for water license applications for non-residential indoor water uses, including non-residential portions of mixed use developments, and for any irrigation uses within non-residential developments. For irrigation, you must first have a water budget that has been approved by Community Development.

Once the water license application form is submitted, staff from the Department of Water Utilities will review the submitted form and follow up with the contact provided within 10 business days.
