Professional Background

Sean McKenzie is an experienced strategy and sustainability professional with just shy of a decade of experience helping organizations advance climate action, accountability, and innovation. In his current role as a Manager in international sustainability and economic development, he leads projects that bridge the gap between data-driven climate solutions and real-world community outcomes on a global platform. His work spans value chain decarbonization, climate finance, and equitable transition planning, supporting global and domestic partners in translating sustainability goals into measurable impact. Sean's approach blends analytical rigor with systems thinking, ensuring that both environmental and human outcomes remain central to strategic decision-making.

Earlier in his career, Sean served in sustainability and professional advisory roles within a global consulting environment, guiding multinational clients in the private and public sectors through risk management, operational improvement, and ESG integration. He has supported a federal agency on internal control assessments and risk-advisory engagements, as part of the financial reporting and Attorney General Semiannual Reports to Congress, strengthening transparency and compliance in government operations. His portfolio also includes leading digital transformation projects in the travel and tourism industry to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency, as well as developing programmes to support the next generation workforce by expanding access to mentorship, education, and career readiness for thousands of young people nationwide.

Beyond his consulting work, Sean has held a variety of roles that reflect his creative and entrepreneurial spirit. He has performed as a professional musician and band director, contributed to environmental conservation as an ambassador and field researcher in the Amazon rainforest, worked as a tutor supporting students in finance and economics, and gained early experience in fast food, real estate and automotive service. Collectively, these experiences have shaped a multidimensional perspective - one grounded in hard work, service, and a belief that leadership begins with empathy, adaptability, and purpose.

Political/Community Experience

Sean McKenzie's commitment and community service is deeply personal. Early in his life, he was influenced by the 5,000 Role Models of Excellence Project, which instilled in him a lifelong belief in the power of guidance and representation.

That foundation continued throughout his career including the work with the Edu-Futuro, where he served as a career panelist, scholarship committee member, and speech competition judge supporting immigrant and underserved youth in achieving their academic and career goals. In his professional life, Sean helped lead one of the nation's largest corporate mentoring programs, recognised as among the "most innovative and high-impact corporate volunteer programs focused on mentoring in the U.S.," overseeing initiatives across the country that empowered thousands of students to build pathways toward higher education and meaningful work. Most recently, he carried that passion home through his local service on the Youth Advisory Council of the Broomfield Community Foundation, helping young leaders translate civic values into real-world impact.

Beyond Broomfield, Sean has built a strong record of professional and volunteer service devoted to mentorship, workforce development, and inclusive leadership. He has been an active member and mentor in multiple professional networks that advance equity and opportunity, including programmes supporting first-generation students and underrepresented professionals in business. He has also served as a guest speaker, panelist, and judge at national conferences and academic institutions, from The Climate Reality Project to the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship's International Conference, reflecting his long-standing commitment to linking education, sustainability, and social impact.
