Broomfield’s Patrol Division is the backbone of the Police Department. Patrol officers are first responders to emergencies. Their sharp eyes and professional actions, together with their collective work with community members on neighborhood problems, help maintain the quality of life that Broomfield residents enjoy.
Broomfield Police officers responded to over 65,000 calls in 2021, with the Patrol Division handling the majority. Incidents include, but are not limited to the following:
- Suspicious Activity
- Welfare Checks
- Domestic Violence
- Burglary/Robbery
- Violent Crime
- Medical Calls
- Vandalism
- Auto Theft
- Death Investigation
- Citizen Assistance
Officer-initiated activities encompass the community oriented policing philosophy that governs the Department’s day-to-day activities, a couple of examples include, stopping in the park to hand out sticker badges to kids or to assist a stranded motorist.
Although the numbers of calls for service continue to increase over the years, the rate of crime in Broomfield continues to remain low. This can be attributed to our citizens who, in many cases, are calling the police for help before a crime occurs and using services in true partnership with the police.
