Homelessness Intervention and Resources

People experiencing homelessness with ties to Broomfield may be eligible for a variety of programs and resources administered within the City and County of Broomfield and community partners. These programs can assist with housing supports, food assistance, medical assistance, and workforce assistance.

Resources

Almost Home / Severe Weather Activation Program (SWAP) 

Almost Home/ SWAP is a program that activates in inclement weather for people experiencing unsheltered homelessness. SWAP provides hotel vouchers to eligible enrolled households.

Refuge

The Refuge is a day shelter where people experiencing homelessness can go for connection, free lunches, access to local resources, and a safe place to rest. 

Point in Time Count (PIT)

 The Point in Time is the count of people experiencing homelessness on a single night in January. The PIT also raises public awareness, promotes collaboration across the region, provides survey data, and can be used to determine the need for housing funds. 

Metro Homeless Data Initiative (MDHI) 

The Metro Homelessness Data Initiative is a nonprofit organization that works to end homelessness in the seven-county Metro Denver area. MDHI’s mission is to ensure everyone has a safe and stable place to live.

Broomfield Community Foundation (BCF) 

Housing Fund

The Broomfield Community Foundation (BCF) administers housing funds obtained through donations from local faith-based organizations (FBOs).  These Funds are used to support individuals experiencing homelessness with initial housing costs, including security deposits, first month’s rent, and application fees.

Refuge Volunteering 

Volunteer opportunities at local day shelter and outreach team. 

The Refuge Cafe 

A cornerstone effort of The Refuge community, The Refuge Cafe is a hopeful hub for people experiencing homelessness and without social safety nets. They offer free lunch, WIFI, showers, supplies, connection to local resources, and a safe place to rest. Broomfield Cares Mobile Outreach Team

This mobile community partnership extends the hospitality and resources of the Refuge Cafe on various days it’s not open, bringing outdoor supplies, connection, and building bridges to resources.   Learn more about the Broomfield Cares Mobile Outreach Team
