RECALL ALERT: Caregivers who purchased Similac, Alimentum, or EleCare powdered infant formulas should check these products to ensure they are not part of a recent voluntary recall. The recall is due to bacteria found at an Abbott facility that can cause infection in infants. No reported cases are in Colorado.

To find out if the product you have is included in this recall, visit similacrecall.com and type in the code on the bottom of the package, or call +1-800-986-8540 (U.S.) and follow the instructions provided. Read the FDA recall notice

Caregivers on WIC:

If your WIC purchased formula is impacted and you would like to switch to another formula, please work with your health care provider to determine the best formula for your baby and get a new WIC formula prescription. WIC formulas are listed on page 2 of the WIC formula prescription.

The Colorado WIC Program apologizes for the concerning and inconvenient situation caused by the Abbott formula recall. WIC is committed to working with stores, speciality pharmacy, and Abbott to ensure you have safe feeding options for your child.

If you have questions about impacted formula through WIC, please contact your local WIC office.
